If you like these videos you will likely love my podcast and all my other stuff you can find at http://tspc.co
I attempt to live my life based on a series of principles I call "Spirko’s Laws of Life". A few of them literally are mine, as in I created them, most though are not. They are either sayings from other people or variations of things that have been said many times in many ways. This one though really is my own…
"You are a battery and a battery needs to recharged from time to time".
While I teach these laws both directly and indirectly sometimes I find myself failing to truly live by them. In may ways I am the same 36 year old man that started TSPC back in 2008. I am in my heart and soul anyway. However I am in reality a 49 year old man and I have come to learn that when they said your extended warranty starts to run out at about 44-45, there is truth in it.
When I started Miyagi Mornings in Nov. of 2000 they were quick low production value 8-12 minute videos. They have turned now into short podcasts of their own. I put almost as much work into at least some as I do a full episode of TSPC, certainly as much as I did in the early podcast from my car days.
The plan has been to assemble them weekly and take Friday off to be with my family. It "worked" but, I find that on weekends now I literally do not want to do anything. The work level I have taken on this year has resulted in a lot of great content but it also resulted in abandoning a lot of the organizing I was doing early in the year and the honest to god worst gardening year I have had since before TSPC existed.
In addition to 4-5 Miyagi Mornings a week added on, I maintained the show as normal except for Fridays and added Unloose the Goose to my life. I am greatful for that as well, we have built something awesome there as well but going forward I am making some adjustments.
1. There will now be 3 Miyagi Morning episodes a week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday as Wednesday is my ULG day this will take a lot of pressure off me.
2. I am only going to do 2 episodes of ULG a month, the other two the Gaggle must fly without me or not. It is what I can commit to at this time.
3. Miyagi Mornings will continue to feed my Friday show, three of them will still likely always realist in an hour of audio on the feed.
While I am announcing this today via this episode, I really want to talk about how many of you may need to do something similar in your own life. I need for instance in addition to this to get on with automation of many things on my homestead. Honestly I am WAY over built here, if Dorothy and I maximized ONE of our growing systems it would provide my plant matter than we could ever eat, I mean ever.
I have built a teaching property and perhaps may be if I can figure out how to do so with out going right back into more work, we need to do more teaching, primarily IRL and locally. Time will tell but this aging GenXr is taking a step back to recharge. Perhaps some of you need to as well?
