  1. While they made some excellent points in regards to the association with the Emperor’s New Clothes; I found it interesting that they missed the opportunity to articulate that it is also an excellent portrayal of mass-formation-delusion, as well as the role of the beginner’s or childlike-mind in the quest for truth. We see throughout the story, that many individuals doubted the existence of the “fine magic clothe” being woven by the tailors. However, having been fed the ruse that only the “wise and sophisticated” could see the magic clothe, the courtier’s and councilmen soon chose to sing the praises of the fabric, rather than be considered stupid by diverging from the opinion held by so many of their peers. When the court modeled the acceptance and adoration of the Emperor’s invisible attire for the masses, they too felt compelled to follow the example being set for them by the aristocracy, as a societal institution – like a celebrity endorsement – reinforced further and further with each neighbor who chooses to “Ooh!” and “Aah!” in amazement at nothing.
The child, or childlike-mind, has permission to perceive the nakedness of the world for what it is, for a number of reasons. A child has yet to be molded and stifled by operant conditioning or social/societal expectations and institutions, and thus can name something simply for what it is as they know it to be by the simplest of terms…They have innate objectivity. The child or beginner’s mind is also willing to accept anything as possible, as they’ve yet to have their sphere of awareness challenged by the realm of impossibility. Finally, the child or childlike-mind has a role outside of the societal construct, and thus has more permission to dissent without incurring judgement by a member of that societal construct.

(hopefully this isn’t stacked on top of my first attempted post, which seemed to be lost when my signal crashed mid-submission. Apologies, if this is redundant.)
